As Our First Blog Tour Draws to a Close

Our Charlie's Girl Blog Tour ends tomorrow, June 25th. It's been a week of ups and downs, thrills and disappointments as we waited for each review to appear.  There were eight bloggers who signed up for our tour, and as of today, Sunday June 24th, due to a miscommunication three did not post as scheduled; A Casual Readers Blog posted a synopsis; but we were gratified with the reviews from the other posts on Geo Librarian, For the Love of Books, and So Simply Sara.  Thanks to those who read our novel and gave us your thoughts.

Our First Book-signing Tour a Success!

On June 6th we signed books at the Deseret Book store in Henderson, NV where we had a real pro for a manager.  Though it was a slow time slot, John Zick greeted each customer personally and invited them to meet the authors of Charlie's Girl who were there that day. We appreciate all John's efforts to make us feel welcome as well as his promotion of our book.

All three photos are from the Henderson, NV store.

On June 8th we signed at the Deseret Book store in St. George, UT where business was brisk.  Lexie and Deanna were among the staff who were very helpful and encouraging.  We met many wonderful people who had their own stories to share, and we gave out free bookmarks, which sparked some sales.

We left autographed copies with the store, in case you know of anyone in the area who might be interested.

We learned a lot in this our first foray into marketing, and look forward to many more signings.

Bring-Your-Own-BOOK Party a success!

Just in case you missed it, our book-signing party on May 31, 2012 was a wonderful opportunity for Dan and me to visit with some of our friends and true fans of Charlie's Girl.

One of those attending was Kendra Swensen, a high schooler who shared with us some of her poetry which we found to be deeply moving and profound.  She writes with a gift far beyond her age.  We expect to hear more of this young writer in the coming years.

Also attending was author Nevada Harward, of the Make-A-Mix Cookbook series. We've known Nevada for many years, and I was privileged to work with her in the Peoria Unified School District.  She graciously endorsed Charlie's Girl, and had a great suggestion for promoting our novel through book clubs, which we would reach mostly by word of mouth from readers.

So if you have read and liked Charlie's Girl, please spread the word and help us share the story of Rosalind and Grace Matthews, Emily Watson, and Muriel Dobson and her irrepressible son Mark William.

And please leave comments here on our blog to express your opinions of our book.

Theme from CHARLIE'S GIRL by Matthew Foxx

I'm learning as I go, and today I tried my hand at making an iMovie to post on YouTube.  My intent was to feature the entire theme by our son Matthew Foxx that had been edited down for our book trailer edited by our grandson, Skyler Foxx.

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbNypYGhSp8&feature=youtu.be

I was given permission by Matt to use his music, but I forgot to ask about a photo. So if this disappears shortly, that will be the reason!
